Leprechaun | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Jason Bailey Flavorwire The basic problem with 'Leprechaun' is that it just isn't scary, not even a little bit, not for the tiniest second, and that's the result of a basic failure at the conception stage. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 23, 2024 Full Review Leprechaun | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This gory, comical horror movie has long aggravated critics, but has pleased horror hounds over the years with its playful attitude and silly approach; taking it seriously is to do it a disservice. Rated: 3/5 Oct 30, 2023 Full Review Leprechaun | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Stephanie Archer Film Inquiry Leprechaun is a film that severely requires the viewer to suspend all believability and plausibility. Yet, if you sit back and just go along for the ride, you will find Leprechaun to be more enjoyable than you might expect. Jared E Classic movie, I think if you don't think of it as a horror but as a fantasy and a quirky but fun one you will enjoy it. Don't expect to be terrified but to be interested. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/02/24 Full Review Rachel R the worst movie ive ever seen Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Jaylen S I had fun with it there were some fun gory kills and campy stuff. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/24 Full Review Mystic Wizard Lizard This movie, neigh piece of cinema is an artwork, which made me revaluate humanity it's self. Just in the opening minutes we hear Tori, our guide through this art-house esc world say in response to hearing "Don't judge a book by it's cover" says "Dad, this house doesn't even have a cover." I had to pause the movie, go to a waterfall and listen to Mozart whilst meditating. After this I returned to my house at about 2:46 in the morning and resumed the film. The I saw him, the leprechaun which was easily the most horrible thing to ever match a gaze with my eyes, I felt the hair on my arm raise up, and my spine go erect, but then he went to clean the most funny character in existence, Ozzy's shoes I screamed, a sound that echoed the roar of primal man, that shook the very foundation of the room, the cat on my lap scratched me and ran off, and the neighbor's dogs barked at me! To express this art I would need to write a Novel, neigh, a tome. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review Audience Member Over 30 years old and still one of my childhood favorites growing up Made $8.6 million on a $1 million budget despite it being released in January which is the worst time for any Hollywood production I remember renting it a lot on vhs which is interesting cause Trimark Studios got their big break during the video boom of the 90s thanks to Blockbuster stores Director Mark Jones of tv's A-List and Fall Guy mixes Irish mythology with a blend of horror-comedy From the opening scene the central villain is a tiny leprechaun making it quite clear if anyone steals his gold blood will be spilled He has a combination of his magical powers and deadly methods to kill A man named Dan O' Grady has his gold but his greed strikes back at him after his wife dies and suffers a stroke The leprechaun is trapped in a box with a four leaf clover on top to keep him powerless 10 years pass and Tori and her father buy the old man's house while also coming across three house painters The leprechaun escapes from the crate continuing to get his gold back; the bodies start piling up as Tori and the others try to survive his evil antics This was my first introduction to Warwick Davis, his most well known role and actually his favorite even though not all the movies were critical darlings, it's very basic after all He illustrates the deadlinesses of greed and possessiveness Still crazy this was Jennifer Aniston's first film role despite that she regretted the experience No bad acting in this and you have some very likable human players particularly Mark Holton as Ozzie who has a lovable childhood imagination though he's often ostracized for it Although some of these people can be dim witted at times then again they can't comprehend fighting off a supernatural creature and they give it their best given the premise In all honesty this isn't the scariest thing out there as it's played more for laughs That Lucky Charms line is still a masterpiece of writing next to Warwick Davis owning this role, he was born to play this Irish villain Silly but a favorite among horror geeks as a guilty pleasure and it embraces its campiness Plenty of dark humor and slapstick among the blood making the genre fun for viewers Plus it's a reminder of the dangers of perceived debts...this leprechaun will collect to save his riches by any means Amazing to think too it spawned a franchise with loads of sequels spanning over 3 decades but this original will always come out on top above the rest It subverts the horror tropes and its success was due to not finding the biggest audience but rather the right one Still one of my favorite slasher villains to this day Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Emoji M I wonder why this exists.............
