Kamala Harris is sharing more details about the kind of gun she owns.

During an interview with 60 Minutes that aired on Monday, Oct. 7, the vice president opened up to Bill Whitaker about various issues — including the economy, immigration and her experience in Washington, D.C. — while the journalist joined Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on the campaign trail.

At one point, Whitaker, 73, brought up Harris' recent comments during a virtual forum with Oprah Winfrey, in which Harris, 59, said, "If somebody breaks into my house, they're getting shot." Whitaker asked Harris what kind of gun she owns and why she got it.

"I have a Glock, and ... I've had it for quite some time," Harris said, before telling Whitaker that her "background is in law enforcement."

Harris, who previously served as California's attorney general before serving in the U.S. Senate, told Whitaker that "of course" she has fired the weapon "at a shooting range."

Harris said both she and Walz, 60, are gun owners during her Sept. 10 debate with former President Donald Trump. In her discussion with Winfrey, 70, on Sept. 19, Harris explained where she stood on the Second Amendment.

“I think for far too long on the issue of gun violence, some people have been pushing a really false choice to suggest you’re either in favor of the Second Amendment or you want to take everyone’s guns away,” she said.

Harris told Winfrey, “I’m in favor of the Second Amendment and I’m in favor of assault weapons bans, universal background checks [and] red flag laws. And these are just common sense.”

Harris and Walz's joint appearance on 60 Minutes comes amid a week of interviews for the Democratic presidential candidate and her vice presidential pick. In addition to the CBS news program, Walz is set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night while Harris has interviews with Howard Stern, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and the women of The View slated for Tuesday, Oct. 8.

On Sunday (Oct. 6), Harris made headlines for her appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper. During the episode, the vice president pushed back against claims that she's not humble and criticism over her decision not to have biological children of her own.

While addressing Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders' controversial comments that her kids keep her "humble" and that the candidate "doesn’t have anything keeping her humble," Harris said, "I don't think she understands that, there are a whole lot of women out here who, one, are not aspiring to be humble, two, a whole lot of women out here who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life and children in their life."

Harris went on to highlight her "very modern family" with husband Doug Emhoff. "We have our family by blood, and then we have our family by love," she continued, adding of her stepchildren, "I have both, and I consider it to be a real blessing. And I have two beautiful children, Cole and Ella, who call me Mamala."

She then opened up about her relationship with Doug's ex-wife, Kerstin Emhoff, and her love for their two children. "When I started dating Doug, my husband, I was very thoughtful and, and sensitive to making sure that until I knew that our relationship was something that was gonna be real, I didn't want to form a relationship with the kids and then walk away from that relationship," Harris said.

"Children form attachments and you really wanna be thoughtful about it," Harris added. "So I waited to meet the kids, and they are my children. And I love those kids to death — and family comes in many forms. And I think that, increasingly, you know, all of us understand that, you know, this is not the 1950s anymore."
